Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections and also skin and respiratory infections and also infections associated with canine distemper in dogs. Also can help treat enteritis (inflammation of the intestines’) that is caused by a specific type of bacteria. Manufacturer may vary from product shown.

Dosage: Dogs – 25 mg/lb body weight every 6 hours for oral administration.

Warning:Not for use in animals which are raised for food production. Chloramphenicol products should not be administered in conjunction with or 2 hours prior to the induction of general anesthesia with pentobarbital because of prolonged recovery. Chloramphenicol products should not be administered to dogs maintained for breeding purposes. Some experiments indicate that chloramphenicol causes in experimental animals, particularly in females, significant disorders in morphology as well as in function of the gonads.
